Ayelet Zurer ("Munich") has landed the lead female role of Vittoria Vetra in the film version of "Angels & Demons" as reported by Entertainment Weekly.Based on author Dan Brown's prequel to"The Da Vinci Code the story follows Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) in his race to stop an Illuminati assassin from wiping out Vatican City during a papal election.
Zurer will appear as the daughter of a physicist who's death sets off everything.
Naomi Watts had been attached to the same role last fall...
Meantime, Cinema Blend reports that former Jedi Ewan McGregor is in talks to join A&D as well...
The Ron Howard-directed film is set to start production in Europe in June for release next May.
