Alfred Molina will star as an evil magician in the fantasy "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" says The Hollywood Reporter.
The modern take on a classic tale has an average college student (Jay Baruchel) who is reluctantly recruited to work for a sorcerer named Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage).
The man gives him a crash course in the art and science of magic to prepare him for a battle against the forces of darkness, including the evil magician Horvath (Molina), in modern Manhattan.
Teresa Palmer (Bedtime Stories) has also joined the cast as Baruchel's love interest.
Filming kicks off this month in New York.
The projects a reunion for Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure), Cage and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
As for Molina his turn as Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2 and his work as the duplicitous Satipo in the now classic opening minutes of Raiders Of The Lost Ark prove his villian chops.
