Jesse Eisenberg will play poet Allen Ginsberg in the ensemble drama "Kill Your Darlings" says Variety.
The story will deal with the murder of David Kammerer by Lucien Carr, a Columbia University student who had been pursued sexually by Kammerer and stabbed him to death one night while fending him off.
Carr, whose friends at Columbia included Jack Kerouac, Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs, dumped Kammerer's body in the Hudson River and spent a couple days deciding whether or not to confess to the murder.
When he finally did, a sensational trial followed, and Carr served two years in prison before becoming an editor at United Press International and a family man. The other three were the key members of what became the Beat Generation.
Austin Bunn and the film's director John Krokidas penned the script
Eisenberg is a busy guy with 6 flicks--including Friday, April 3's Adventureland--in play for 09.
Chris Evans is set to play Kerouac and Ben Whishaw is Carr.
