True Calling

Filmmaking bros Joel and Ethan Coen wrote and are likely to direct a remake of the classic 1969 John Wayne western True Grit says Variety.

The new version will be more faithful to the original Charles Portis' book about a 14-year-old girl who, along with an aging U.S. marshal and another lawman, tracks her father's killer in hostile Indian territory.

Unlike the original film, which won Wayne an Oscar, the new version will tell the tale from the girl's point of view.

I'm glad the Coens' are not really remaking the 40 year old pic--A Wayne centric like update would be a mistake.

No schedule is set yet.
