Great Casting For Lincoln Biopic

Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson  Bruce McGill and Joseph Cross are in negotiations to join the biopic Lincoln  says The Hollwood Reporter

Daniel Day-Lewis will play Abraham Lincoln, in the Steven Spielberg directed pic. While Academy Award winner Sally Field will star as Mary Todd Lincoln, wife to the 16th President of the United States

Gordon-Levitt will take on the role of Robert Todd Lincoln , eldest son of the President and the only one to live past his teenage years.

Jones will play Thaddeus Stevens, a Republican leader from Pennsylvania who was a staunch supporter of abolishing slavery and critical to writing the legislation that funded the American Civil War .

David Costabile, Byron Jennings, Dakin Matthews, Boris McGiver, Gloria Reuben, Jeremy Strong, and David Warshofsky are also in talks to join the film as well

Based on the best-selling book, Team of Rivals: by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, the screenplay was penned by award winning writer Tony Kushner,

The long gestating film that once had Liam Neeson playing Lincoln will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Spielberg.

The film is expected to begin shooting in the Fall of this year gearing towards a release in the latter half of 2012 Just in time for Oscar consideration
