As the CGI toon of the Classic Dr. Seuss tale The Lorax continues to make money over fist--Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have decided to take on another Seuss classic for their next CG-animated film--The Cat in the Hat according to Deadline.
"Cat" is indeed Seuss' most famous story worldwide, the decision to make this pic comes after Universal already made a live-action version of the story with Mike Myers in 2003 that was a major flop.
The notion behind the redo is that the Seuss stories seem to connect with audiences better in animation as they are doing with 'Lorax' and Horton Hears a Who! in 2008.
Rob Lieber will write the script that Chris Meledandri will produce.
Illumination is also working on a film about the life of Dr. Seuss with Johnny Depp attached to play the author.
