Project X star Thomas Mann has won the lead role in the comedy "King Dork" says Variety
Based on author Frank Portman's 2006 novel, the story follows two best friends and outsiders who bond over their shared love of classic rock and roll. Said friendship helps them cope with the agony of getting through high school in 1987.
Mann is in talks to play the lead while Keir Gilchrist is up for the role of his friend. Nick Offerman is in negotiations to play the Mann's Step-dad.
D.V. DeVincentis ("High Fidelity") is writing the adapted script from which Matt Piedmont will direct.
Emilio Diez Barroso, Darlene Caamano Loquet, Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Kevin Messick and Chris Henchy will produce.
Production will begin in June, likely in Connecticut.
