Ratner Goes On A 2nd Midnight Run

As if Brett Ratner did not have enough films already in development--he is now said to be in talks to direct the long gestating Midnight Run Sequel says Deadline.

The original 1988 action-comedy centered on a bounty hunter (Robert De Niro making a cross-country journey attempting to bring back his latest catch, an embezzler (Charles Grodin).

While not a major hit, the film won critical favor and has scored a strong following in the two decades plus since its release. I have been a fan of the first film since its debut...

David Elliot and Paul Lovett ("Four Brothers," "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra") will re-write an earlier draft by Timothy Dowling ("Role Models"). This time the action teams De Niro's character with a young sidekick.

De Niro will produce the sequel with Ratner and Jane Rosenthal.
