The hit boy band One Direction is headed to the big screen says THR.
Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) will direct the 3-D film, which will be release on August 30, 2013
Spurlock will be given access to the private moments of band members Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, as they head out on their upcoming world tour, which launches in February.
Spurlock is producing with Simon Cowell, who discovered the band on his X Factor U.K. reality competition in 2010. Also producing are Ben Winston (One Direction: A Year In The Making) and Adam Milano.
Here's what Spurlock had to say about the project.
"This is an incredible opportunity and an amazing moment in time for the band. To capture this journey and share it with audiences around the world will be an epic undertaking that I am proud to be a part of."
Cowell adds:
"I’m delighted we’re making this film and Morgan is the perfect person to give that access-all-areas, behind-the-scenes look into what it’s like to be One Direction today. What the band have achieved is incredible, they and their fans have made history around the world – this is for them."
