Tom Hardy will star in the film adaptation of Ubisoft's video game "Splinter Cell" says Variety.
The six games so far released follow a covert operative and have sold twenty-three million units over the years. The film's story centers on Sam Fisher, a highly-trained operative in a secretive unit known as Echelon.
"The International" screenwriter Eric Warren Singer has been hired to write the script.
Ubisoft is expected to be very involved and retain control over how the game is translated into a film.
The project is still seeking studio backing
The film has been in the works for nearly as decade with Peter Berg previously attached to direct.
