Deadline reports that final three contender Rebecca Hall ("The Prestige," "Iron Man 3") has won the role of the wife of Johnny Depp's character in "The Dark Knight" cinematographer Wally Pfister's directorial debut "Transcendence".
In the Jack Paglen penned script Johnny Depp plays a scientist trying create the first self-aware computer. Somewhere along the way, he dies and his consciousness is uploaded into this supercomputer by his wife. Then that computer is connected to the internet.
Hall beat out Emily Blunt and Rooney Mara for the role
Paul Bettany will play a fellow scientist
Christian Bale, James McAvoy, Tobey Maguire, Noomi Rapace and Christoph Waltz are all circling the film.
Marisa Polvino, Kate Cohen, Annie Marter, David Valdes, Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove will produce.
Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are serving as executive producers.
Shooting kicks off in the spring for release in theaters by April 2014
Pfister has worked on seven of Nolan’s films since "Memento" including his Batman trilogy and "Inception" for which he won an Oscar.
