The story is an adaptation of author Berkeley Breathed's book series, with the novel "The Shocking Raid on Westminster" serving as the basis for much of the script.
The story follows a dachshund and show dog who is separated from his human owner by a jealous poodle. He soon leads a group of abandoned dogs to the Westminster Dog Show to reunite with his best friend and get back his title.
