Butler Might Hang Out With "Gods Of Egypt"

THR reports that Gerard Butler is in talks to join the epic fantasy Gods of Egypt.

The story is set in ancient Egypt. "Game of Thrones" star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau plays Horus, the god of the sky, who teams up with a human thief and Hathor, the goddess of love, on a magical quest to avenge the death of his father, Osiris.

Butler would play Set (aka. Seth, Sutekh), the god of the desert, storms, and foreigners in ancient Egyptian religion.Set killed his brother Osiris, prompting Set's nephew Horus to seek revenge. Failing in the attempt and being disfigured as a result, it's up to a young human thief in love with a slave to help defeat the mad god

Alex Proyas will call action using a script he wrote with Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama ("Dracula Untold")

Proyas and Basil Iwanyk are producing.

Production begins early next year in Australia.
