Appearing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Monday Ben Affleck finally talked about being cast as Batman in Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman/Batman team-up Man of Steel Sequel.
Ben said "They called me up and said, 'Do you wanna do this?' And I thought, 'Well, I'm not 25, man. Are you sure about this?'
According to Affleck, the suits told him, "'Listen, we want to talk to you because people go through this process and it can be trying...We want to show you some of the reactions that past people who have been cast have gotten, like on the internet and stuff,'" he recalled. "[They showed me] people who were in these movies who did a great job and [commenters would] say, 'Kill him!' You can't say that before a movie comes out. It doesn't matter what you think then, it matters what you think when you see the movie."
He wasn't initially worried about the potential backlash: "The people from the studio were like, 'We're thrilled! And listen, we want to talk to you, because people go through this process and it can be a little trying.'"
Affleck ignored advice to avoid the Internet for a few days: "I said, ‘I'm a big boy. I can handle any snub. I can handle anything.'"
"I said, 'I handle s--t.' I'm very tough,'" he continued. "So, I saw the announcement, I look down the thing and I look at the first comment. The first comment goes, 'Nooooooooooooo.' I'm like, ‘We're going to be Luddites for a while, kids.'"
Affleck said he's excited to see how his three children react when they watch the movie in July 2015.
"Every kid should see their dad as a superhero, right? It's so awesome, man," he said. "I'm so excited."

There's also noise that the production is seeking is a love interest for the Dark Knight in the film. The Type? A woman in their late 20s of any ethnicity. They do, however, specify that she be tall and "possess physicality".
The notice DID NOT give a name for the character, which led to speculation that it could anyone from Vicki Vale to Wonder Woman.
A love interest for Bats suggests that he will have a larger part in the film than expected. It also could mean that other characters like Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred Pennyworth might show up as well.
Singer Justin Bieber uploaded a photo on his Instagram account showing him holding up what appeared to be a personalized script for the film with the hashtag "#Robin" but it turned out to be a prop for a Funny or Die skit.
"Man Of Steel" writer David S. Goyer will be back--as will Christopher Nolan to executive produce the film.
Sources say the new movie is going for the tone of the relationship and fight seen in Frank Miller’s 1980s ground-breaking mini-series The Dark Knight Returns.
The film will shoot in Detroit and throughout Michigan sometime in the first quarter of 2014. Warner Bros will also shoot the movie in Toronto to meet its release on July 17, 2015.
