Deadline reports that Australian actor/filmmaker Kieran Darcy-Smith ("Wish You Were Here," "Animal Kingdom") is set to direct "Blackwater".
The true story deals with the private military company which became an important part of the wars in Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan. Specifically
it centers on four former security guards turned private contractors
currently on trial for a 2007 incident that left 14 Iraqi civilians dead
and 18 others wounded.
Gideon Yago ("The Newsroom") is writing the screenplay.
Jon Peters is producing the film.
