THR reports that Aaron Sorkin is in talks to pen the adapted script for a film based on author Michael Lewis' non-fiction book titled "Flash Boys" for Sony.
Described as an anti-"The Wolf of Wall Street"--the
tome follows a group of Wall Street investors who are frustrated by a
loophole that gives traders the opportunity to game the stock market.
They come together to reform the financial markets by creating an
exchange which ultimately invalidated high-frequency trading, a growing
form of trading that gave insiders an advantage. The group walked away
from huge money jobs to investigate big banks, stock exchanges and high
frequency trading firms to expose the secrets.
Sorkin is familiar with the author's work, having written a draft of the script for "Moneyball" which was also based on a book by Lewis.
Scott Rudin and Eli Bush are producing the film.
