Nielsen Replaces Stowe On "The Runner"

Bryan Batt, Peter Fonda, and Wendell Pierce  have all joined the political drama "The Runner" says ScreenDaily.


The film's setting is in the aftermath of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Connie Nielsen stars as Deborah Price (In a role originally pegged for  Revenge star Madeleine Stowe), the wife of a Congressman (Nicolas Cage). The pair are stuck in a dead marriage in which she ignores her husband's publicly revealed infidelities because the pair are bound together by ambition and power.

Pierce will play Cage's chief of staff and Fonda will be his father — a former New Orleans mayor. Batt will take on the role of a Wall Street financier who caters to Big Oil companies.

 Sarah Paulson will play a PR consultant Cage's character hires to help him get back into the political game.

Austin Stark wrote the script from which he will direct.

Benji Kohn, Bingo Gubelmann, Chris Papavasiliou and Erika Hampson will produce the film.

Ruth Mutch, Noah Millman, Sam Bisbee and Tom Conigliaro will executive produce the movie

Production is set to start in New Orleans on June 23
