Takashi Miike's "Audition" Getting A U.S. Remake

Deadline reports that "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" and "Basic Instinct" producer Mario Kassar is planning a remake of Takashi Miike's twisted cult classic from 1999 "Audition".

Like the original film the updated version is based upon author Ryū Murakami's 1997 novel. The action follows a lonely widower is convinced by his filmmaker friend to hold a casting call for a fake movie in order to find a girlfriend. He finds one girl he likes, a ballerina named Evie Lawrence, but soon his life turns into a nightmare.

Richard Gray will be directing from his own adapted screenplay.

Production is slated to begin this Fall once Gray wraps "Sugar Mountain" starring Jason Momoa.
