Variety reports that Brad Fischer and James Vanderbilt ("Zodiac") will produce the Nazi Germany-set true story thriller "Blackout ".
Set during World War II between 1940 and 1941, the story follows the hunt for a ruthless serial killer within the Third Reich, and a relentless detective who must confront his own murderous regime in order to catch the killer. At the time, the British were conducting nightly bombing raids, forcing the Berlin government to implement a "blackout" at night. The only light sources came from phosphorous paint on every street corner, bus and commuter train.
The script will be based on author Scott Andrew Selby's book "A Serial Killer in Nazi Berlin: The Chilling True Story of the S-Bahn Murderer". Mark Hogan has been hired to write the adapted script..
This is one of two Nazi-themed projects Mythology is developing, the other being "The Nazi and the Psychiatrist" about Hermann Goering’s stay at an American-run detention center after his capture.
