Kristen Wiig will star in and make her directorial debut on an as yet untitled comedy says The New York Times .
Details of the plot are being kept under wraps other than that Wiig and her pal Annie Mumolo are playing best friends who find themselves in over their heads and
out of their depths. They also wrote the script.
Tom Rothman’s set to produce the film
The duo received a screenplay Oscar nomination for 2011′s “Bridesmaids,” which grossed an impressive $288 million worldwide on a $32 million budget.
Mumolo recently wrote the biopic "Joy", about the life of Joy Mangano--a struggling Long Island single mom of three who became one of the
country’s most successful entrepreneurs with her self-wringing Miracle Mop invention--with Jennifer Lawrence tipped to star. She also acted in “This is 40” and “Afternoon Delight” and has a recurring role on the TV series “About a Boy”
Wiig’s credits include “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” “Anchorman 2″ and “Hateship Loveship.” She will next be seen in “The Skeleton Twins,” “Nasty Baby” and “Welcome to Me.”
