Mark Rylance Will Fight The Cold War With Tom Hanks

Stage actor Mark Rylance is in talks to join an as yet Untitled Cold War set project that Steven Spielberg is tipped to direct says Variety . Details of Rylance' role are unknown.

Matt Charman wrote the true story inspired pitch that follows James B. Donovan (Tom Hanks) an attorney who negotiated the release of downed U-2 spy plane pilot Gary Powers after an incident in 1960. Joel and Ethan Coen penned the latest draft of the script.

Spielberg will also produce along with Marc Platt

This will be Spielberg's fourth collaboration with Hanks, following Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me If You Can and The Terminal. They also served as executive producers on HBO's World War II mini-series' Band of Brothers.

The film’s pace has picked up, with plans to start production this fall

The project joins the ever growing list of potential films that Spielberg could direct next--including the religious drama "The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara".
