Dwayne Johnson Tipped For "The Janson Directive"

Variety reports that Dwayne Johnson is in talks to star in and produce a film adaption of the late author Robert Ludlum's book "The Janson Directive" at Universal Pictures.

The story follows Paul Janson, an ex-U.S. Navy SEAL whose sadistic C.O. turned him over to the enemy during the Vietnam War. He escaped and returned with evidence of war crimes that caused his Co's execution. Years late, Janson is now a private security consultant whose latest job is rescuing an important man. When the job is botched, he is targeted for termination and his investigations lead him to uncover a massive scandal.

The studio sees this as film as another potential "Bourne" style film series with Johnson in the lead.

The search for writers is currently underway to write the adapted script after a previous draft by John Hlavin has been discarded.

The project is one of several film adaptations of Ludlum books in development.
