New Writers Take Over "Enchanted 2" Script

"Shrek 2" and "The Smurfs" scribes J. David Stem and David N. Weiss will pen the musical fantasy sequel Enchanted 2 says Deadline. The previous draft was written by Jessie Nelson.

The first Enchanted was directed by Kevin Lima and centered on an animated Disney princess who crosses over into the real world. It went on to make $340 million at the worldwide box office in 2007.

There's no word on whether Amy Adams will reprise her role as Princess Giselle. Indeed we don't know if any of the original cast members – which also include Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Idina Menzel, Rachel Covey, and Susan Sarandon – will return.

Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld will produce the film.
