The Wrap reports that Rachel Weisz is talks to join the drama "The Light Between Oceans".
An adaptation of author M.L. Stedman's debut novel,
the story follows a lighthouse keeper (Michael Fassbender) and his wife (Weisz) living on a remote
Australian island in the years following the end of World War I. The pair are soon faced with a moral dilemma when a boat
washes up on their with a dead man and a two-year-old. They raise the
child as their own with devastating consequences.
Alicia Vikander ("A Royal Affair," "Seventh Son") was tipped for the role at one point.
Derek Cianfrance ("Blue Valentine," "The Place Beyond the Pines") is set to direct
David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford will produce the film.
Production aims to take place in Australia but the specific dates are not yet known.
