Sam Claflin ("The Hunger Games: Catching Fire") and Emilia Clarke ("Terminator: Genisys") are in negotiations to star in the film adaptation of author Jojo Moyes' bestseller called Me Before You says Deadline.
The story follows a small town
girl (Clarke) caught between dead-end jobs and a high-profile, successful
man (Claflin) who becomes wheelchair bound following an accident. He has decided
his life is not worth living until the woman is hired for six months to be
his new caretaker. Worlds apart and trapped together by circumstance,
the two get off to a rocky start. But, she is determined to prove
to Will that life is worth living and as they embark on a series of
adventures together, each finds their world changing in ways neither of
them could begin to imagine.
Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber ("500 Days of Summer") penned the most
recent draft of the adapted screenplay from which Thea Sharrock will direct. Moyes wrote the first draft of the screenplay. The book has sold over half a million copies.
Karen Rosenfelt is producing the picture.
An August 2015 release is planned.
