Cinema Resurrection?

Are 2 defunct TV shows getting the film treatment like "Firefly" did with Serenity?

With the ABC series Pushing Daisies cancelled and no word on whether the remaining unaired episodes will ever see broadcast air...

Regular cast member Kristin Chenoweth told TV Guide, that series creator Bryan Fulleri s hoping for a direct-to-DVD movie wrap up to tidy up various story lines that don't come to a close in those so far unaired episodes.

"It would wrap up a lot of the unanswered questions that people will have once they finally air our final episodes" says Chenoweth who states Fuller has the plot for a movie already worked out.

However she says he "wouldn’t do it without the six main characters. Paul Reubens was a big part of it - we have certain guest stars that are standouts that we’d want back. But he has such a great idea for it."

The notion isn't all that unusual for Fuller to consider--his acclaimed dark comedy series "Dead Like Me" has been spun off into a direct-to-DVD movie Life After Death which hits stores next month.

Meantime director Jon Turteltaub told iF Magazine he is working on a theatrical version of the CBS series "Jericho".

"We’re developing a feature for 'Jericho'. It would not require you to have seen the TV show, but it get into life after an event like this on a national scale. It would be the bigger, full on American version of what’s going on beyond the town in Jericho".

The drama began in September 2006 and centered on the residents of the fictional town of Jericho, Kansas after a string of nuclear attacks on 23 major cities in the lower 48 of the United States.

Initially cancelled after its first season, overwhelming fan support brought the show back for a further seven episodes but ratings did not improve prompting its cancellation a second time.

I have only seen snippets of each show...Expanding the canvas of Jericho intrigues me as a feature film though...
