The project has made the rounds at the studios.. originally at Fox before heading to Warner Bros.
Emmerich and Sony beat out a Warner Bros./director Alex Proyas and Fox/producer Vince Gerardis at an auction for the property.
Ugh! One of the greatest sci-fi stories ever written is in the hands of a hatchet man--Other than Independence Day and maybe The Patriot--his Godzilla (1998), 10,000 BC, and The Day After Tomorrow were absolutely dreadful-- his upcoming apocalyptic 2012 doesn't look all that great either...
I wish Proyas had gotten the gig...(Sigh)
