Plain Jane?

First the Vanessa Hudgens Twilight casting rumors began and then were quickly shot down, now the latest sequel casting gossip is from Marc Malkin of E! Online who reports that Dakota Fanning is in talks to play the vampire Jane in "New Moon," .

In the story, Jane is a member of the Volturi - an Italian vampire sect treated like royalty who essentially act as lethal enforcers to ensure the existence of vampires isn't exposed to the world-- Jane's special power is the ability to create illusions of pain.

Is it just me? Or does this rumor not seem so far fetched? Fanning will next show up in the scifi actioner Push on Feb 6th.
