Ving Rhames will star in the film adaptation of Athol Fugard's 1982 play "Master Harold...and the Boys" says THR .
Emmy-winning director Lonny Price, makes his feature film debut on the project in which Rhames plays Sam, a dignified, noble waiter who is a father figure to young Hally (Freddie Highmore).
Patrick Mofokeng will play Willie, a younger, more lighthearted waiter who is preparing for a ballroom dancing competition.
Price played Hally opposite Danny Glover as the original Sam in the original Broadway run, and Price directed the 2003 revival.
Nicky Rebelo wrote the screen adaptation of "Master Harold," and promises to extend the original play to take in more action and expand the setting.
It's great to see Rhames taking a major role again...
Filming will take place on location in South Africa.
