Inside Stuff

Spike Lee bank heist thriller Inside Man is among the best in his filmography--a sequel has been in the planning for about a year.

Lee tells MTV News that the follow up is now moving forward apace, but the original plans have changed a bit.

Four key original cast members will be back - Clive Owen will be back as the thief , Denzel Washington as the senior NYPD detective, Jodie Foster as the tough-as-nails businesswoman, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Washington's partner.

But Russell Gewirtz's screenplay for the sequel that, involved Owen's character getting caught up in a New York diamond district heist, has been discarded.

New details are not known but Lee says that Terry George has taken over writing chores:

"If the script is up to snuff, we’ll be shooting it. Here’s the thing: if everything lines up—people’s schedules are open, [we’ll begin in] late summer, early Fall."

Like the first, the sequel will be shot on location in NYC.

Sorry to see Gewirtz go here...Still looking forward to seeing Lee work magic with that core cast.
