Coming Soon caught up with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua at Sundance promoting his new flick Brooklyn's Finest...
He tells the site that wants to stay in New York City for his next flick.
"It's called 'Scarpa' with Morgan Creek and it's New York again, Brooklyn, FBI, Italian gangsters, it takes place from the '60s to the '90s, and we're talking to Sean Penn " says Fuqua.. It's a biopic of Gregory Scarpa, Sr.
Scarpa was the chief enforcer for the Joseph Colombo crime family and an FBI informant for over thirty years. -earning the nickname "The Grim Reaper".
The film may very well be produced outside the studio system - "I still want to do it for under a certain amount of money - I would just love to stay under $30, under $25 (million), I'd love to try and have my independence that way.".
