Director John Carpenter has his next film a psychological thriller called "The Ward" for Echo Lake Entertainment reports the John Carpenter signs on to 'Ward'.
Written by Michael Rasmussen and Shawn Rasmussen (Long Distance), the film follows a young woman (Amber Heard of Pineapple Express) who is in an institution terrorized by a ghost.
Carpenter says "The Ward is the kind of script that I've been looking for: a complex, visceral story, full of suspense and scares"
The film is scheduled to begin shooting in May.
It's Carpenter's first film since 2001's dismal "Ghosts Of Mars". He's also in development on prison film Riot and gangster flick "The Prince" on his plate. Given the time frame though it looks like Ward is first.
