Director Martin Scorsese is getting set to make his long time coming adaptation "Silence" says Variety.
Daniel Day-Lewis (pictured) and Benicio Del Toro are in negotiations to star in the film while Gael GarcĂa Bernal has been approached to appear.
Based on Shusaku Endo's book, the tale set in the 17th century as two Jesuit priests face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and to spread Christianity.
Jay Cocks adapted the script.
Production will gear up as soon as Scorsese finishes Shutter Island.
Day-Lewis resurrected his career working on another Scorsese epic Gangs of New York 7 years ago. Great potential for more great stuff.
