Katie Holmes will star in Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, a thriller that was scripted by Guillermo del Toro and Matthew Robbins. Del Toro will also co-produce reports Variety.
Based on a 1973 telepic, the story follows a young girl who moves in with her father and his girlfriend and discovers they are sharing the house with devilish creatures.
Holmes is more known for being Mrs. Tom Cruise than as an actress now...Here's hoping that she fares better here than she did in the thrillers Teaching Mrs. Tingle, Disturbing Behavior, and Abandon--which all had their share of issues.
Troy Nixey is directing "Dark".
Filming kicks off this summer in Melbourne.
In related del Toro news---he is in negotiations to also produce another horror feature Mama according to the Risky Biz Blog--on top of prepping The Hobbit/The Hobbit 2....
