Monica Bellucci joins Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel for The Sorcerer's Apprentice reports Variety.
The story revolves around a sorcerer who recruits and trains a young protege to help him fight the forces of darkness in modern-day Manhattan.
Bellucci will play Veronica, a sorceress and the long-lost love of Cage's character, Balthazar Blake.
The film takes its cues from the classic Mickey Mouse segment of the classic 1940's film, Fantasia.
Bellucci played a sorceress once before in The Brothers Grimm; Persephone in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, and a vampire seductress in Bram Stoker's Dracula and just landed this role as well.
Sorcerer's Apprentice is due to come out July 16, 2010, which means it will go head-to-head with Christopher Nolan’s Inception.
Jay Baruchel, Alfred Molina, Teresa Palmer and Toby Kebbell round out the cast. Filming is underway in New York City with Jon Turteltaub in the big chair.
