Cary Fukunaga, is in advanced negotiations to direct a feature adaptation of Charlotte Brontë classic book "Jane Eyre" says Variety.
This film version will be a less romanticised, more gothic adaptation of Bronte's already quite dark work and sounds to be more focused on the events at Thornfield Manor than the chapters set at her school or with the Rivers family.
The story follows a governess who softens the heart of her notably older employer Edward Rochester, but mysterious noises and attacks in the manor house hint at someone else residing there - a terrible secret kept locked away that on occasion manages to escape and wreak havoc.
Moira Buffini has adapted the script.
The project's been around since 2008 when Ellen Page was attached to star She is longer a part of the project.
