Gritty Reelism

Matt Damon's recent family emergency appears to be behind him and now it's back to work...

He and fellow actor Josh Brolin are tipped to join the cast of the True Grit remake says Variety.

Jeff Bridges has already been cast in the lead as US Marshal Rooster Cogburn (originally played by John Wayne in the 1969 pic that won him an Oscar).

Damon would play the Texas Ranger who joins Cogburn in tracking down the killer of a 14-year-old girl’s father. Brolin would play the killer.

Brothers Joel and Ethan Coen are calling thee shots on the film--which is based upon the novel by Charles Portis.

While Damon has never worked with the Coen brothers before.... Brolin had a role in 2007’s No Country for Old Men, while Bridges played the now-iconic role of “The Dude” in 1998’s The Big Lebowski.

Getting out from the long shadow of the '69 pic will be tough--But at least the Coen boys have made solid casting choices thus far here.
