Warner Bros. paid over 2 million bucks for an untitled spec script by writer and Black lister Dan Fogelman says Variety.
The story follows a father whose life unravels while he deals with a marital crisis and tries to manage his relationship with his children. The tone will be light and sentimental with touches of drama.
Fogelman (pictured) wrote the script specifically with Steve Carell in mind for the lead, and the studio paid extra to make that happen.
Carrell, Charlie Hartsock and Vance DeGeneres will produce the dramedy.
Final details of the deal were being ironed out late Thursday, but today on the last day before the agencies and studios close for the holidays, the deal for arguably the biggest spec script sale of the year was completed.
Just yesterday Carrel also added the comedy pic Mail Order Groom to his list of projects as well
