The LA Times reports that Breck Eisner, director of next February’s unnecessary yet surprisingly decent-looking remake of George A. Romero’s The Crazies, has signed on to remake David Cronenberg’s 1978 horror flick, The Brood.
The 1979 original The Brood follows a man who tries to uncover the unconventional therapy techniques used by a psychologist treating his institutionalized wife, while a series of brutal attacks committed by a brood of mutant children coincides with his investigation.
The script for the update has been penned by Cory Goodman (who writes star Paul Bettany's upcoming Priest). There's is no word on what changes have been made to the story.
Eisner who also directed the actioner Sahara seems like he will be putting his crazies skills to use here. As a cult classic of my childhood--Cronenberg's '79 pic casts a long long shadow
