There are no wide releases opening on New Year's Day...Therefore it's any one's game including James Cameron's Avatar-which had a $27 million dollar opening day but then got socked by Mother Nature and a big snowstorm on Saturday December 19th...Things pick back up at the box ofice on January 8th...
