Author Michael Morpurgo's War Horse is headed for the big screen says The Hollywood Reporter.
Lee Hall (Billy Elliot, The Wind in the Willows) adapts the screenplay about the friendship between a boy and his horse, who become separated but continue to be intertwined as they try to survive the horrors of World War I.
Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Revel Guest are producing the pic.
The animal tale has also been adapted for the stage
