Remember when Emilio Estevez starred as Mighty Ducks ice hockey coach Gordon Bombay...?Now...Russell Brand is reviving the premise with a bit of Friday Night Lights added into the mix.
He is attached to star in an untitled soccer-themed comedy reports Deadline Hollywood.
William and Scott Bindley's story pitch has Brand playing a David Beckham-esque soccer star and playboy who gets arrested in West Texas.As community service, he's forced to coach the local high school's rather inept soccer team in a town dominated by American football.
Brand, Bill Bindley, Nik Linnen and Mike Karz will produce the pic.
Brand is a hit and miss with me--but this has potential with the dual sport angle
