Internet Casting Call For Tupac Biopic

A while ago, director Antoine Fuqua was set to helm a biopic about legendary rap artist Tupac Shakur. For whatever reason, nobody’s been cast as Tupac yet, and by the look of things, a well-known actor isn’t being sought for the role.

The site In Search of Tupac was launched by “Morgan Creek Productions and Skee.TV/Karmaloop.TV” on Friday to aid them in finding who should play the musical icon. Actors who are seeking to fill the role through this online casting call need to submit a five-minute reel of them acting out a pre-selected scene from the film.

I’m not a terribly huge fan of casting like this. I prefer it old-fashioned, where actors went to meet with the directors and producers and whatnot. However, I’ll admit that I need to catch up with the times. After all, Mila Kunis nabbed the role of Lily in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan online, through either iChat or Skype, and she gave one of the best performances of 2010. Maybe this casting call will produce exceptional results.

What do you think about the decision to hold a digital casting call for the role of Tupac?
