Mom Knows Better

What's up with release date for Darren Lynn Bousman‘s Mother's Day remake?

It was supposed to hit theaters on Friday Apri 1st.

Bousman told STYD that the already overcrowded weekend led the film's distributor Gigapix Studios to pull the movie for a quieter weekend.

Bousman says "They assured me again it is coming out in theaters here – it is not a DVD release. As for a date, that I can’t give you. I know their plan is soon – as in second quarter of this year... As much as it is tearing me apart waiting – I would rather wait and have them put the movie out at the right time – then just dump it on some crammed weekend"

Mother’s Day stars Rebecca De Mornay, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Jaime King, Shawn Ashmore, and Deborah Ann Woll.

Synopsis

After a bank robbery gone wrong, three brothers head for home, hoping their Mother (De Mornay) can provide them with a getaway. The youngest brother, Jon (Matt O'Leary), has been shot, and their back-stabbing former partner has gotten away with all the cash. But when the brothers get home, they find that all their stuff is gone and Mother is nowhere to be found: She lost the house months ago in a foreclosure. The new owners, Beth and Dan (King and Frank Grillo), and their guests, gathered for an ill-timed birthday party, become the brothers' unwitting hostages. Not long after, Mother arrives, along with the boys' sister Lydia  (Woll), and it soon becomes clear that Mother will do absolutely anything to protect her children. In one terrifying evening she brilliantly takes control of the situation and masterminds her sons' escape from the law.
