A fresh batch of industry news from the last few weeks

-One of my all time favorite Val Kilmer performances is as Doc Holliday opposite Kurt Russell's Wyatt Earp in "Tombstone". Now, Kilmer will play Earp himself in the indie western "The First Ride of Wyatt Earp" reports Variety.



-"Firefly" star Alan Tudyk has been cast as Stephen A. Douglas in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" for 20th Century Fox reports Variety. While Australian actress Robin McLeavy has now scored a small but crucial role in the upcoming supernatural action tentpole "as well reports Deadline.

-Tommy Lee Jones has surfaced as the front-runner to play Meryl Streep's husband in "Great Hope Springs" for Mandate Pictures says Deadline.

-Mad Men star Jon Hamm has a small role in the upcoming comedy "Bridesmaids". "Freaks and Geeks" creator and filmmaker Paul Feig, the director of "Bridesmaids", tells The Los Angeles Times that

-Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks has signed on to star in the Mike Figgis-directed "Seconds of Pleasure" reports Deadline.



-Duncan Jones tells Gordon and the Whale why he's decided to release Mute as a graphic novel which should hopefully stir up some interest.

-Summit Entertainment has acquired the screen rights to Veronica Roth's upcoming young adult novel "Divergent" reports Deadline

-Sony Pictures has acquired the screen rights to Joshua Foer’s just published "Moonwalking With Einstein" says The Hollywood Reporter..

-Judd Apatow is set to produce, but not direct, the new comedy "Do Gooders" says The Hollywood Reporter.

-Pulitzer Prize-winning author and scribe Michael Chabon has met with director Jon Favreau about performing re-writes on Ronald D. Moore's script for the family adventure "Magic Kingdom" says Heat Vision

-Billy Bob Thornton is officially in talks to reprise his role in the comedy sequel "Bad Santa 2" says The Wrap.

-Comedian turned director Bobcat Goldthwait has announced his next project, his fourth dark comedy which will be entitled "God Bless America" and produced through Darko Pictures.Goldthwait revealed the news on The Adam Carolla Show (via /Film),

-Brendan Fraser will star in Terry George's heist  comedy "Whole Lotta Sola" reports Variety

-Reshoots for "Captain America: The First Avenger" will take place in the UK next month.

-Screen Australia has given the green light to "Drift", the 70's-set Sam Worthington-led surfing drama says The ABC.

-Shane Black talks directing the third "Iron Man" film via AICN

-Three of the key stars of the original 2006 "Silent Hill" film adaptation - Sean Bean, Radha Mitchell and Deborah Kara Unger, are all set to reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D". according to a press release

-Musicians from Coldplay and private investor Merzbau are teaming to finance the film noir feature “Ashes” for CinemaNX reports Variety. Ray Winstone, Jim Sturgess, Luke Evans, Lesley Manville and Jodie Whittaker star in the pic--story details are being kept under wraps.
