Don't Cross Fox

Former "Lost" star Matthew Fox is signed on to "I, Alex Cross", a reboot of the franchise based on James Patterson's Alex Cross novel series reports Deadline.

Fox has the role of Michael Sullivan, a killer known as the Butcher of Sligo. When Cross thwarts one of his killing attempts, Sullivan makes his retribution personal, by gruesomely killing the detective’s wife.

Tyler Perry, best known for writing and directing his own films, stars as Cross in the pic--this would mark his first role in a film that he didn't write outside of his cameo in J.J. AbramsStar Trek.

Ed Burns has also signed on to play Tommy Kane, Cross's partner.

Rob Cohen (The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor) will direct the film. Patterson and Kerry Williamson wrote a draft of the script that will be polished by Marc Moss which includes several twists that are different from the book

In the novels Alex Cross is a forensic psychologist who hunts down killers. Morgan Freeman played the role twice in 1997's Kiss the Girls and 2001's "Along Came a Spider".

Three studios are fighting to nab the project with a deal to be locked down soon
