Drew Barrymore Directing Second Film “How to Be Single"

Drew Barrymore successfully directed the dramedy Whip It in 2009, working excellently with an ensemble cast that included Ellen Page, Kristen Wiig, and, well, herself, among others. Now she looks to direct herself in a motion picture yet again with How to Be Single, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The screenplay, penned by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, “explores the loves lives and break-ups of a group of New Yorkers over the course of ten years.” It’s easy to see the similarities between this and the ensemble romantic comedy He’s Just Not That Into You, which also starred Barrymore. Not coincidentally, Kohn and Kohn penned the screenplay for that one as well.

Barrymore has proven to be an extremely versatile actress and pushed herself into the world of method acting – no holds barred – with her Golden Globe- and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning performance in the telefilm Grey Gardens. However, she’ll always have that special something necessary to carry a light romance.

See the lovely yet underrated and mostly forgotten Going the Distance where she falls in love with Justin Long for proof of that. She should be great here. Can’t wait to hear more about who gets cast.
