The wrestler-turned-actor now looks to play iconic country vocalist Charley Pride, Variety reports. He’s also aiming to produce the film. A Grammy Award-winner, Pride boasts 28 No. 1 singles on the Country Charts according to Billboard and continues to record music to this day.
For many, Johnson has proven himself as an actor. Perhaps it’s just me, but I’m still not seeing it. He walks a fine yet strangely appropriate line between unintentional cheese and completely aware self-parody in Justin Lin’s Fast Five, which dominated the box office this past weekend, but can he pull off this kind of role?
