Mayor Of Rock

Bryan Cranston has joined the cast of Rock of Ages, the Adam Shankman-directed adaptation of the Broadway musical according to The Hollywood Reporter



The story takes place at a Sunset Strip club called Rock of Ages, where a man and woman fall in love but soon the rock lifestyle turn them inside out.

The show is fueled by '80s rock music from Journey Pat Benatar Bon Jovi and REO Speedwagon among others.

Cranston is set to play the Mayor of LA and the husband of an Anita Bryant-like advocate (Catherine Zeta-Jones) who wants to ban rock and roll. Cranston recently signed on to play the bad guy in the Total Recall remake

Shankman reworked the script with Justin Theroux-from show creator Chris D'Arienzo's first draft

Tom Cruise Julianne Hough Mary J Blige Alec Baldwin Paul Giamatti Diego González Boneta Amy Adams and Russell Brand also star

Carl Levin, Matt Weaver, Scott Prisand, actorTobey Maguire and Jennifer Gibgot will produce. Janet Billig and Hillary Weaver are executive producers.
