Jeff Nichols ("Take Shelter") wrote the script and will call action on the story which centres on two 14-year-boys who come across an adult fugitive of the law, Mud (Pine) and must help him escape off an island in the Mississippi.
Mud is both an unsavory and a redemptive type character with the pic already drawing comparisons to "Stand By Me" and "Huckleberry Finn".
Aaron Ryder ("Memento") will produce. this film
It's nice to see Pine take on something like Mud what with action heavy fare like the Untitled Star Trek Sequel, Moscow in his sights and the Rom-com This Means War, dramedy Welcome to People in his rear view...Good Mone.
